Help & FAQ

What is Mathetes?

Mathetes.ai is a KJV Bible study platform built for serious students of Scripture. "Mathetes" is Greek for "disciple" or "learner." We combine the full King James Bible with study tools, real-time community, and AI-powered assistance.

Is the Bible reading free?

Yes, always. Reading the Bible will never be paywalled. The KJV text, red letter Words of Christ, missing scriptures indicators, and basic search are all completely free.

Why the King James Version?

The KJV is translated from the Textus Receptus (Received Text), the Greek manuscript tradition used by the church for centuries. We believe it is the most faithful English translation. Our "Missing Scriptures" feature highlights verses and phrases removed in modern translations based on the Critical Text.

What are the premium features?

Premium tiers include Strong's concordance (Hebrew & Greek definitions), AI study assistant, study courses, community chat, personal notes, highlights, and Experience mode with audio Bible reading. See our pricing page for details.

What are "Missing Scriptures"?

These are verses and phrases present in the KJV but omitted or significantly altered in modern translations (NIV, ESV, NASB, NLT). When toggled on, affected verses are highlighted in purple (omitted) or orange (altered). Visit the Missing Scriptures Library for the complete list.

Can I use this offline?

Yes! After your first visit, the entire KJV Bible is cached on your device by our service worker. You can read any chapter offline. You can also install Mathetes as a desktop app through your browser.

How do I install the app?

In Chrome or Edge, click the install icon in the address bar (or go to Menu > Install Mathetes). On mobile Safari, tap Share > Add to Home Screen. This gives you an app-like experience with offline support.

How do I search for a verse?

Use the search bar in the header (or press Ctrl+K / Cmd+K). You can type references like "John 3:16", "Gen 1", or "Psalm 23". You can also search for words across the entire Bible.

How can I send feedback?

Click the help icon (?) in the header and select "Send Feedback", or go directly to /feedback. Every message is read personally.

Send us a message through the feedback form and we'll get back to you.
